Mr. S

Just last week, I met Mr. S. He is an 80+ caucasian male who happened to be admitted in the hospital due to heart problem...Last week, when i was doing my rounds, i saw him in his gerichair sleeping...i asked if he wants to go back to bed because its already one in the morning...he said "no dear, i like it here better because the hospital bed is not comfy"...i said okay but after 2hrs, i asked him again if he wants to lie down (ang kulit talaga...)...as expected, he said NO...i've heard from my colleagues that he really prefers the gerichair...he even told me that he'd rather freeze to death outside than stay in the bed...anyway, he then asked me when will be the breakfast and i told him that it will be around 9am...he looked sad and i figured out that maybe he's hungry..i offerred him some toast and coffee...he said yes right away and smiled at me...when i gave him his coffee and toast, he said thank you and smiled at me again...after that routine, i thought ill never see him again because ill be 3days off...maybe in that 3 days, he will be sent home...

when i came back to work, i saw him again in his chair and i asked him how he is doing...he said he is having pain...i told him that maybe a nice walk will ease the pain...his face brighten up and told me that he really likes to go for a walk...when i was putting his slippers on, he kissed my hand and tap my shoulder (i just smiled at him and thought to myself, that's sweet)...he then signalled me to get something from his drawer...i searched his drawer and saw this beautiful handcrafted tulips...i gave it to him and he gave it back to me...i was surprised and i thought maybe he just wants me to put them back in his drawer...to my surprise he said "that's for you dear"...i was teary eyed when i heard that...i said thank you and we walked for 15mins...

I was touched that Mr. S remembered me even I took care of him for only one day ...and now, i realized that a small help really means a lot to some people...Hmmm...im teary eyed again...
